A dagger is a fighting knife used by soldiers in combat. Daggers are still used in modern day by the army in close combat. All soldiers had one as a back up to their primary weapon. It's frequent use has made it quite iconic.

A dagger can be regarded in many forms, such as having a short, one sided blade, but in modern times it has been classified as having a sharply tapered point, two cutting edges and a spine (or fuller). It is normally made of steel and can be adorned as to the users liking, more commonly (in the 12 century) to the user's rank.
